Laurie Crawford–president of the Animal Network, Inc., a nonprofit based in Manatee County, FL–discusses the history and evolution of the organization, starting out creating new dog parks. Describing the Animal Network as primarily a lobbying group, Crawford went on to describe other of the group’s earlier efforts, including working in concert with animal services and county officials there to help ensure ordinances to protest animals are passed or changed, and that animal abusers are prosecuted.
