While away on a family vacation, I presented an encore broadcast of my interview with Helen Macdonald, the author of “H is for Hawk,” which received rapturous acclaim and major literary prizes. It’s probably my favorite book of the last year or so, and I was pleased to see that the critical acclaim translated to commercial success: the book soared to the upper reaches of The New York Times Bestseller list. It also landed on the iBooks recommended Summer Reading list. (In a slightly bit of odd timing to be away, this show effectively marked the 12th anniversary of “Talking Animals,” which I launched June 13, 2003 at KUCI in Irvine.)
