by | Oct 11, 2004

Professor since 1974 of Marine Science at Orange Coast College, Dennis Kelly primarily discusses the Coast Dolphin Project, a multi-faceted study he launched in 1978 (and still directs) that, among other objectives, seeks to determine the population dynamics, biology and ecology of the coastal bottlenose dolphin population In Orange County, CA and has yielded some significant discoveries and papers about dolphin behavior–including the phenomenon of Birthing Circles, in which a group of dolphins surrounds, protects & essentially midwives a pregnant dolphin as she’s giving birth.  [www.dkatantarctic.com/CoastDolphinSurvey.html]
