Talking Animals

Internationally-noted nutrition expert Dr. Michael Greger

Dr. Michael Greger–physican, author and internationally-noted expert on nutrition and public health issues–reviews some of the notable and positive developments he discussed a few weeks prior in a panel entitled “Advances In Farm Animal Protection” at the Taking Action For Animals conference in Washington, DC.

Dr. Greger, who also serves as The Director of Public Health And Animal Agriculture for the Humane Society of the United States, also discusses related shifts in the cultural landscape, whether through such documentary films as “Forks Over Knives,” and public figures as disparate as Mike Tyson and Bill Clinton touting the virtues of a plant-based diet.

He explains how his academic/medical training, personal interests and pivotal breakthroughs (like Dean Ornish’s landmark study, published in 1990) combined to forge the professional path he’s pursued toward education and public health. And he describes the genesis of NutritionFacts.org, the website for which he tracks nutrition-oriented research across the globe, and then Dr. Greger presents those findings in brief, accessible, illuminating video pieces.
